Backing 3 Rolls or 5 Rolls does not buy you the board round. It buys you a bonus card with designated numbers on it, and those numbers have to come out of the machine during the same 20-ball draw.

Miss one number and the bet is lost, the board never appears, and nothing marks the near-miss on screen. Random free spaces assigned before the draw can land on these numbers and complete them for you, which is the only help available and is not something you can influence.
Two things follow, and they are the reason this rule belongs at the top of the page rather than inside a rules guide:
5 Rolls is not an upgrade on 3 Rolls. It is a separate stake with a harder qualification — four numbers instead of three — that fails more often in exchange for a higher ceiling. Treating it as "the better version" is the most common misreading of the bet.
Watching the board play out while your own bet did nothing is normal. Other players' cards qualified and yours did not. Nothing malfunctioned, and no setting would have changed it.
What you are actually staking each round
A round can carry six separate stakes: up to four cards, plus 3 Rolls, plus 5 Rolls. At a ₹20 card price, four cards and both side bets make a ₹120 round, not a ₹20 one.
Extra cards raise the chance that something pays and raise what you stake in step — they do not change the return percentage. The figure to watch across a session is stakes per round, not the price of any single one.
Free Space or Chance — the difference in figures
Every card is bought as one of two types. Most write-ups separate them with adjectives; the paytables separate them with numbers.

Free Space completes lines more easily because the centre is already marked. Chance is harder to complete but starts with a multiplier in the middle, which is why its ceiling runs roughly five times higher.
The published return is 96.10% either way. The choice sets the shape of the outcome, not its value: steadier and smaller, or rarer and larger.
Seeing it run before you stake
There is no free-play version. Live tables run on real dealers and real money, so the game cannot be practised.
